Environmental change begins with simple acts of care, such as keeping our shared spaces clean.
Where and When
The Cleanup Drive was one of The Leaf Project’s earliest initiatives, held in June, 2023 at Diabari, Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh, a public area known for both its natural beauty and increasing waste challenges.
Although this particular drive was undocumented, it marked an important starting point in our journey toward community-led environmental awareness.
At that time, a small group of volunteers gathered to remove litter, separate recyclable materials, and restore a sense of cleanliness to the open area. More than just cleaning, it became a shared moment of reflection and a reminder that sustainability begins with personal responsibility.
This experience laid the foundation for The Leaf Project’s mission to reconnect people with nature through collective, action-based awareness. It showed us that impactful work does not always begin with recognition or resources. It starts with intention. Our team learned the value of grassroots engagement and saw how even modest efforts could encourage others to take part. Since then, the Cleanup Drive has become a symbolic part of our story, representing the quiet beginnings of a growing movement dedicated to restoring and protecting the environment.
Future Plan
As The Leaf Project continues to grow, we plan to organize documented cleanup campaigns in new locations, collaborating with local youth, schools, and environmental organizations. These future initiatives will focus on waste management education, recycling awareness, and community participation, expanding the impact that began with one small, undocumented act of care.
Every clean space, no matter how small, brings us closer to a cleaner Earth.
